Algae Problem
Lately I've been having a rash of algae bloom in my tank. Just the standard green, no hair or anything like that just a green slime on all the glass, noticable growth on a daily basis. Its starting to grow on the rocks and air bubbles seem to be retained against the algae, how can I get rid of this? The water quality has been great using RO/DI, No nitrates, I did have some Phosphate in the water about 2 weeks ago, but I removed it using phosban. SO. any ideas?

Do you have any snails to help keep in under control on the rocks at least. Other than that just watch the phosphates and nitrates. What phosphate test kit are you using?

Salifert I do have snails, and they are trying to do their best but its a lot of algae

Try a sea hare.

1. Sea hares seem to be not in season... no idea why.
2. This thing is getting WAY out of control and I am at a loss to why. I'm going to take a pic as soon as I can for you all to see. Its driving me to the point of throwing the towel in. Its not bubble algae, not hair algae, and not cyano. its green and it creates bubbles EVERYWHERE. Its starting to get to the corals and I'm getting very worried. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP!!!! Will post pics soon. |
The bubbles makes me think it is Cyano. Cyano is not necessarily red. When I lived in Vancouver it was black, and I think I have seen green too.
