Tuffa in sump??

a friend of mine told me i can put tuffa in my sump insted of buying liverock for it? anyone ever done this? or should i just buy the live rock i wont need to much anyways

You can use Tufa as far as I know. Its just that Tufa is heavy, usually ugly and not very porous.

I think you are thinking of something other than tuffa. I have it in my fresh water tank. Very porus, light. It also makes a good base rock for you main tank. Will help keep you Ph up, and is cheaper than LR. Of course this is IMO

you dont actually need any live rock in your sump.

I have used tuffa rock and lava rock in my 75 I have had it all in there for over 5 years. in my sump I have Lava rock, tuffa rock and Live rock in my sump, I am just going to leave the tuffa and lava rock in my sump and put the live rock in my other tank.
