Bryopsis Free Zone!
Excellent Sam! What was your attack plan?
My hair algae is almost completely gone now as well. Just a small area left where it originally appeared. Everywhere else in the tank it has spread too has dissapeared. Perhaps nuisance algae is seasonal? |
Bryopsis Free Zone!
In the previous 4 months, I kept pulling out as much bryopsis as I could but it would all grow back within 1-2 weeks. I tried pulling out a rock every few weeks to scrubbed them clean but it all grew back within a few weeks. I had 2 emeralds and about 15 hermit crabs.
Finally, I decided to pull out all rocks at the same time and scrubbed them all. I added 3 lettuce nudibranches, 4 more emerald crabs (6 total), 20 red legged hermits, 8 left handed hermits, another 6 blue legged ones (16 total), and 6 more scarlets (10 total). I watched the lettuce slugs and emerald crabs finish off the remain algae stubs. Problem solved. |

Holey Cow! That is unreal! I'm sitting here watching my new live rock breed algae and writing down your list of the algae munching crew. I don't think what I have is hair algae but dang, apparently Im really good at growing it.
