175 20k 0r 250 10k

Before I buy my lighting, should I go with 175w 20k or 250w 10k for my 20g? love the color of the 175 but would I be resricting myself with it?

That doesn't make any sense. You asked what to do before buying lighting. Are you looking at pre-configured kits? Or?

Yes they are Brad, The place I shop doesn't have much inventory, but their prices are the best. Usually beating J&L by 10-20$ And better customer service. So anyway he has 175w with 20k or 250w with 10k MH retofit kits.

Ah, OK. On a tank that size, the 175w isn't going to really limit you at all. I ran 175w over my 75 for years, and kept anything I wanted (SPS, clams, etc)

Thanks Brad. If you were setting up a 20g tank, what would you do? Lets extend that to all equipment. What would your 20g consist of?

So you went with JL anyways..?

Yes I did. The other LFS wasn't able to get me a ballast for anouther 2-3 weeks. I already had water in the tank and live rock. Didn't really want to wait that long seeing as how the LR I got was already cured and had stuff growing on it. I didn't want to take the chance of loosing that growth. I got the LR because the LFS said he would have the lights for me today. His supplier let him down. Jack got me the same price within a couple of $. Now that he is there I am willing to start looking there again. Although I really like Pauls aquarium, but he doesn't carry a very large stock of items.
