Water Quality
I was wondering if anyone would know why my water is turning bright green daily...?
|
Phyto bloom is my guess.
Do a couple of water changes. Also, you might have to "black out" your tank if the problem persists. |
It does it with in a few hours of the water change.... how long would i have to do a black out for? There's a few things that need some light
Thanks Lisa  |

Do you use carbon? It could also be a result of high phosphates, do you use RO water or tap water?
|
Typically this type of thing gets worse with water changes, especially tap water.
|
yes, cuz your just adding more phosphates.. Its important to test your source water for phosphates.
Grab a test kit :) |
If you can borrow a UV sterilizer, that will kill off the phyto within a day or two.
In the future, investing in a good RO/DI unit to filter your tap water will help alot. Anthony |
I've been getting RO water from the grocery store( I know its not the best but its all that I can afford  )
Theres Chemipure in the tank (only carbon source) This is how the water looks during a change. http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...GreenWater.jpg Lights Off. http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1.../LightsOff.jpg Lights on. http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...9/LightsOn.jpg After one day it got worse  http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...9/LightsON.jpg Is there any way to help this problem with out a uv sterilizer? If there isn't where would be a good place to buy one? |
