Hi From Montreal (Back from Turks) - Pics

Just spent a week at Turks and Caicos Island. I took a beginner's course in Scuba Diving there and went on a couple of dives in the Caribbean off the coast of Providenciales. Unfortunately, I dove in between storms and didn't have much visibility. Anyhow, scuba diving is great and hope to do it again soon (probably South Pacific next time).

Now, I'm in Montreal for a few days and then will probably go to Toronto for a few days before returning home.

Happy Holidays, did you manage to get any pics Sam?

Hey Rich.

I got lots of pics on the Island. However, I didn't get many pics in the ocean. The instructor took my camera and didn't want me to lose focus while I was learning to dive I guess. The instructor did take 2 or 3 pics of me while I was diving but that was about all. So, there might be just a couple of pics of me in the ocean but none of the corals and fish. I only went 2 dives. The first was 49 ft and the 2nd was 33 ft. Very shallow dives.

That looks cool :D

What requirements did you need for the beginners scuba class?

Cheers,
Vic [veng68]

None really. I can't swim but they let me take the course anyways. The course was about 2 hours in a pool and 2 hours on the beach and then they take you straight down to the ocean. Its not for everyone however. Out of 5 people in my class, 2 completed to the end. Surprisingly, being the only non-swimmer in the group, I was 1 of the 2 that completed the entire course (I've only been in a swimming pool once in the past 20 years).

Good for you. I am also a non-swimmer but I think I will take swimming lessons before I attempt to get in to scuba :)

Cheers,

Oh ...... I forgot to ask....... did you go to an all inclusive resort or did you go to a scuba shop?

Cheers,
Vic [veng68]

Hi Vic. Sent PM.

EDIT: Good news. All fish in my tank are accounted for even though I had some top-off problems with my osmolator not working. Corals were annoyed but most are recovering.
