would this be all i would need for a 38 gal tank i have no plans as of yet on the specific corals i will be keeping but am jus wondering if this is sufficient and i wont have to upgrade on this tank

also will i need another type of light for night ?

good places to shop for lighting in calgary?

ne 1 have used light setups for sale?

That would be more than enough light to grow anything you like. Make sure you don't put one of their grow bulbs in it. You will have to keep that light up pretty high or you might have some overheating issues with that tank. I do have a 250MH horizontal pendant with a new 10K bulb that I'd let go for $300.

one recomendation, get a 250 watt HQI ballast, it will drive all 250 watt bulbs (both single ended and double ended). Normal 250 watt ballasts can have problems with different bulbs so you don't have the flexibility that the HQI ballast will give you.
