Inexpensive source of filter foam? Has anyone discovered a cheaper source of filter foam/sponge than the LFS's  $18 for a 12" x 6" block at IA is the best I've found in Calgary and it goes up from there . Seems an exorbitant amount to pay for a piece of foam. If anyone has found a suitable alternative say a mattress manuf. or cleaning supply place etc.. please share with the class  |

Yes .. but .. um .. I can't seem to find their card at the moment. Doug (Tangoman) pointed me to these guys. Doug you out there, do you remember their name? If not, like I said, I'll dig through my pile-o-business-cards and post back. |

reply For the 1 inch stuff I use air conditioner foam from Rona, never had a problem with it. Its like 5 bucks for 12x24 inches approx. |

Ok, for the foam sponges, I don't know, I just use LFS stuff for sponges when I need a sponge (really only use that stuff in my FW tank's Fluval). But for filter floss, check out this place: Labbe Bedding Ltd. 5010-1st ST. S.E. 287-9808 |

Scott, Try looking at a fabric store. They usually carry different types of foam from fine stuff you would use in a cushion to more heavier stuff almost like the filter media you would buy for a reno.I used to buy my white filter fluff from there for my AC300 all the time I would buy a big bag at $3 that would last a year. |

Thanks Tony and Geopod for the tips . I will look into both Labbe Bedding and the fabric stores. |

Go to Walmart. In the fabric/ sewing section, they have bags of the pillow stuffing, floss and foam. Dirt cheap. Use it all the time |
