Mildly intrigued by a salt tank
 

I have a spare tank at my office.
It is one of those waterhome type tanks with the filtration above the tank and the lighting seems pretty good. I am mildly intrigued by the salt set ups and was wondering what I could do with this thing? How much it would take to set up and what could I put in it?

I like reef type tanks and also predators. Dwarf lion some form of trigger, or something of that nature.

Office tanks are the coolest thing. I need to put one in my office. Just can't figure out how to deal with the saltwater in the truck.

Be prepared to spend large amounts of money with steadily increasing overhead for an office reef type setup. Possibly it wouldn't be too much of an additional expense if you had a similar setup already at home.

There's a few people on the board that run one in their office and could make some suggestions.

I know it's been a while since you posted this so don't know if you are still following.
I have a 12g. JBJ Nano cube set up in my office that is just florishing. I currently have a blue devil damsel, tomato clown and a bunch of zoos, green star polyps, mushrooms and xenia in it.
I change about 3 gallons of water every 2 weeks, rinse the sponge filter - feed the fish on most weekdays (I travel in my job so am not always in) and that is that.
The only thing I added for additional equipment was a small powerhead.
Everyone that comes in admires the tank and comes by regularly to check on the fish.

If this was my 12g, though, I would not keep a tomato clown as they grow to 6" long in the wild. More info on these fish:

I would also do weekly water changes and clean the foams weekly, especially if you have the two fish in the tank.

I know it's only a temporary home for the tomatoe until my 24g. is finished cycling (actually it probably has but I'll wait another couple of weeks just to be sure) then it will be the only fish in that tank. I had to get it out of my main tank as it was fighting with my maroon clown and it is still pretty small yet so should be OK for a couple weeks. Good point on water change though.
