May National Geographic
Anyone else read the NG magazine this month? There is an interesting article on colour and light in coral reefs. There is a bit of info on the web site too. Interesting stuff, and great photos.
May National Geograpic One interesting fact: apparently the Mantis shrimp can see 16 different light spectrums including UV and polarized. It has the most complex eyes of any animal. No wonder they are so hard to catch when the come as hitchhikers   |
Excellent presentation. Even recognized some of the fish and inverts

It was an interesting article.

Great pictures, but I found it kind of lacking in detail. I also thought the mantis was the most interesting part.

Nice find Ed, now hopefully I can just pick one up before there all sold out

The June issue has a nifty article dedicated to convict "blennies", Pholidichthys leucotaenia.

Yeah, I quite enjoyed that article. Had no idea the common, overlooked fish in the LFS was so interesting in the wild. Great shot of the juveniles diving into their cave.
