Copperbands vs clams ?
Will a copperband eat a clam ?.
|
Mine has not bothered my squamosa. My friends has been in his 180 for almost a year, with 4 clams of different sizes and has not bothered them.
However they are butterflys. I think its important that they have a decent size tank with lots of live rock, producing natural food for them. Plus if they are also fed other food on a regular basis, they are less likely to pick at corals. Besides tank fare, mine eats mysis at least twice/day. |
Thanks for the reply, might have to wait to a large one comes in i think a3" one might be a little to tempting.

My friend has some smaller crocea,s and his copperband pays no attention to them.
Yet. |
Ive only had my CB for a few days now,it eats like a pig though mostly on mysis, and any tube worms it can find on the lr,and spends the rest of the day haging out with my very neorotic foxface.

Mine never bothered clams, and I don't think it did with its subsequent owner either. It did severely bother an open brain though.

Just a cautionary note. I don't know what type of clam I had but my CBB picked at it a fair bit. Sounds like you'll be safe with the above mensioned clams though.

I was thinking of a derasa clam due to only haveing pc lighting over my tank plus some no lighting actinic.

If you get it, be prepared to have to get it out of there quick, or remove the clam just in case. FWIW, I had a derasa that did very nicely under PC but it grew like a weed as soon as I went to MH.
