Mag Pump
 

For some reason or another my Mag 7 just doesn't want to work. This happens from time to time, it will work great and then won't restart. It was working fine yesterday - but then after unplugging and plugging it back in (installing a chiller, and trying to get it right) it won't start - and after several hours of blowing air through it, shaking the #*$& out it, and calling it every name in the book - it still won't work. Is their a secret that someone knows that I don't?

Have you opened it up and checked out the condition of the impeller? (Perhaps it's all gunked up in there...)

I second that. Sometimes you get a build up of calcium and/or other crap that needs to be cleaned out. Maxi jets are particluarly bad for that in my tank.

Soak the impeller and ceramic shaft in vinegar for a bit, then scrub with a tooth brush. You'll have to get the little cap the impeller goes into out on both ends to make sure it's all clean as well.
