painting overflows

I want to paint the overflow on my new 50g. Is there a safe paint other than the 2 part epoxy I use for wood tanks I can use?

I assume glass overflow box inside the tank? Since paint tends to bond poorly with glass at the best of times I'd suggest siliconing thin black acrylic cut to size.

When my brother was inquiring about buying a tank from Inter-American the guy told him to not paint the overflows as no matter what the paint would come off. So I would say the acrylic idea sounds good.
