Skimmate amounts
I figured this would be good information to know. Everyone go empty your collection cup on your skimmer. On Friday, measure your amount in ML 's and answer the poll and also post your amount and type of skimmer.....
Let's find the average...... |
My Euroreef ES6-2 pulls less than 60ml/24hr on a new 75g tank. 70# of LR, 6 fish, 2 shrimp, 6 corals.
10g weekly water changes help keep it low. Bare bottom tank doesn't let detritus settle. Gonna be hard to conclude anything, because all these factors affect the performance of a skimmer. The same skimmer on my 155g pulled 2 cups per day of black gunk..... |
Yah, tank size, bioload, maintenance etc. all of that changes things so I don't think you can compare from one tank to the next.
My cup drains into the sewer line anyway. |
I clean mine every 2 days. Not that its full but it just says to in the manual. Euroreef ES-6-2. I guess probly about 60ml+ every couple of days.

um, how many ml are in a gal? I figure I will have about 3 gal by friday
just upgraded my becket to a Mazzie and an still trying to set it up right, but the 1 gal looks like coffee. Steve |
See , I already learned a lot
I'm 220 to 240 ML every 4 or 5 days myself. If we assume that we all stay within a reasonable bioload and post gallons. I think we can come up with some figures  |
I would say around 25-30ml every other day
|
ok as predicted I emptied my jug yeasteday morning and I just emptied it now, so 1 gal in 24 hours dark green tea.

Steve, you might want to do a water change!!!

A better poll might be how many ML per gallon of tank water in a given amount of time. I'm at about 250ml per 65g over 5 days, but I don't have much of a bio load right now. 1 clown, 1 cardinal, 1 rbta and a reef moderate reef crew.
