Tank Drilling

Okay, does anyone know where to get a tank drilled?

I am just to much of a chicken to attempt this on my own with out seeing it done first

I also need a notch cut into the tank for a external overflow

thx

what size holes? for a 1" bulkhead?

Beermaster 04-01-2005 05:36 AM

to tell you the truth ryan, i am still trying to figure that one out myself

on a major learning curve here, being just a FW guy attempting to go to SW

here i will tell you the setup

main tank will be a 16" cube so roughly 18gal
Sump willl be 10gal, sump will be around 3' below the tank

Do you have a pump already or one in mind to use for your sump?
You have to make sure that your overflow can handle the amount of water you pump can pump.
I bet you can guess what happens if the overflow can't keep up with the pump...

well thats the math i guess i still gotta figure out,

One of my plumbing supply companys that we order from, can get me any size pump i need for nothing, so i guess i just gotta figure out what i need

they deal with little giant pumps and some others

how would i figure out how much flow i would need from the pump?
300gph? 500gph? cant see it being more then that.

so if i understand everything right, water from the tank flows into the overflow, down to the sump, flows though the baffles ect...... then to the pump back up to the tank right

might sound like a dumb queston, but i think i have been over reading and confusing myself a little

I can drill holes for you (1/2" - 1" bulkheads) but I can't notch the glass for you (I assume the glass isn't tempered?).

If you come over on Saturday, I can even do it then if you bring your tank over.
