Back Glass...
Just wondering what the general concensus is on coraline algae on back glass.
Do you all leave it as is, or scrape it off??? |
I leave it.

leave it, much nicer than those plastic backgrounds plus, it's good for the tank.

I leave it. Its enough work keeping the front glass clear. I gave up on the sides too  What can I say, I'm lazy

Hi Marnie. My 500 gallon has a blue background, only to be covered by coralline algae completely. The aquarium looks good like that, and it looks good with the blue background as well. I would scrape the coralline once in awhile whenever I feel like it or if anyone say anything about it. Christy, if you're lazy then I'm lazier. Try scraping coralline in a tank that size. Takes about 2 days of scraping, in between I let my back recover. Regards Ken

Leave it. Good coraline growth is a sign of a good reef tank

Thanks all.... I have left it as is and now that its almost completely covered I think it looks fine, but everyone (non-reefers) ALWAYS comment....What's on the back glass???

Every 6-8 months or so i get the urge to scrape all the glass clean and i do think it looks better after i'm done but the upkeep is too much(i'm lazy too )
