Cool, is this the first time for them? Do you plan to try and raise the fry?

Chad,
Yah, I'm a seahorse fanatic. Danny, No, they had babies last fall, but I wasn't ready for them. The male kudas (at least mine) don't look super pregnant, so I kept wondering is it, isn't it. Then one afternoon, one of my students saw a little pony but it was the last one & too small to survive. Gonna clean out my 20g & set that up as my rearing tank I think. Also gotta move out a bunch of stuff from the 33g seahorse tank so the babies will have a chance. Debating about the merits of transfering the pair into the 20g or set up my 5g as a fry tank. So many decisions, so little time  Anthony |
Hey Good job man. I'd not use a 20 right now and would just stick with a 1 gallon bowl. There are instructions/directions on Seahorse.org about it but basically you use a drum type bowl and put an airline in it. The airline should go in on one side, all the way (3/4) of the way around and end about halfway up the opposite side. The air will keep things moving and in suspension. Have lots of little hold ons for the little buggers. Feed sanfrancisco strain brine shrimp or try rotifers. If you can keep the 1 gallon drum half full of water and then drip in another 1/2 gallon during the day, then siphon out a 1/2 gallon then drip in another it will help keep the water clean and clear for them. Good luck.

Good job. Sorry to say it but i was more interested in your jaws. BUt congradulations on breeding now the hard part. Raising the young. Good luck once again and keep us posted.

I guess that makes you the dirty perv photographer then,
eh Anthony  Congrats  |
Rich,
Gotta be what I gotta be  Doug, I'm thinking of using the 5 gallon & I can always lower the water level. It's one of those tall plastic ones from Petcetera. Currently have common guppies but they'll be going to another home to make room. Anthony |
Anthony keep us posted please, I'd love to get a couple of pairs in the future.
