Need help new overflow

I am set to start my sump but I am not sure how to start my new overflow. Any help would be great.

Cheers

I take it its external?

Put some water in the outside box of your overflow. If you have a piece of airline handy shove it in the U tube until it hits the middle of the U. Put the U tube in position and suck the air out of the U tube until there is little or no air. Next, plug in your pump and the last of the air should come out of the tube as water flows through it. If the air doesn't go through, you can just jiggle the U tube until the bubbles become dislodged.

Good luck

Christy :)

Some people drill a whole in the u-tube and fasten an airline that can be hooked up to a powerhead in the tank. This will create a constant suction in the u-tube so that air won't gather in it, a powerful enough powerhead will actually start the initial siphon.

Thanks for the input I have to build another U tube one isn't going to be enough unless I want my tank water on the floor. I am just letting the glue dry it should be all up and running tomorrow.
Cheers
