lighting question

hi
will 260w pc and 40w no (actinic)on a 24" deep tank offer enough light for Scolymia & brain corals on the sand bed,i'm concerned about not enough light reaching the corals at this depth .thanks john

Brain corals don't really need that much light. Mine seem to inflate more under less light and look shrivelled under higher light.

Thanks Anthony
hopefully i can start adding corals near the bottom, the mid section is taken up by my torch which for most of the day has tentacles reaching over 12-13" looks great but also restricts what can be placed around it to nothing .

My 35g hex is 24" deep & my brains (carpet & metallic green open) are happy laying on the sandbed under some macro. If you're ever in my area (Metrotown) give me a call & come on over if I'm available.

BTW, thanks for staying after your shift to help me get my stuff a couple of weeks ago.

Wetwebmedia recommends med. to high lighting so I think it should be ok. Of course MH would probably be best but that close to that many watts of PC should be fine as long as bulbs are not too old. Let's see what the others have to say when they wake up in the morning.

I think this should be stated as Brain corals can do with less light if they have to but they do prefer higher lighting. It will do fine with the PC's, might be inflated more than normal (personally I hat the inflated look) but this is because they are trying to get more light.
