glue and primer for pvc

Hi i was wondering if anyone knows if it safe to use purple primer and grey glue on pvc for a reeftank? The purple primer and grey glue are approved for use on potable water systems i think it will be ok for a reef?thanks Paul

glue and primer

Thanks Gary it is because i see other tanks and they use clear i guess just for the look so it does'nt look messy paul

I'm not sure why some people use other stuff, but the stuff you have will be cured in as little as 12 hours(Depending on the room temperature.) and won't leach anything into your system.

Some have also started using the grey 1step glue. Reading the bottle - it's not rated for pressure - so I wouldn't use it if you're using a sump in the basement, and going up 16' :)

i use silicone so i can get stuff apart again, it also helps fill gaps on barb fittings. if i had anything under serious pressure i would use pvc glue.

purple and Gray is fine. I use clear primer and clear glue for better looks only. also try get a heavy body glue instead of a medium body as it will slop a lot less
