hair algae cleaners
is there any kind of fish that snacks on hair algae or some kind of critter i can toss in a small tank to help keep it trim? working with a 10 gallon here
|
Sea hare or I think it's called a Turbo snail. The kind that get quite big & knock over frags  I bought one from Denman PG & it's done a great job tackling my hair algae problem. Also have a Indonesian purple tang (cousin to the Kole tang).

i think a sea hare will be too big and i do have a couple of turbos but all they do is play on my clean glass!, is there any small reef safe fish that does this job ?
|
not for a 10 gallon tank

grrr..... so there are no small guys that will assist in keeping this problem in check?

I think you might be better off fixing the cause of the problem rather than trying to fix the end result of it, especially in a smaller tank. I had some hair algae on some of the rocks in my tank. I plucked them off pinch by pinch every other day, fixed my skimmer (it was clogged and I didn't notice) and it never returned.
