Winnipeg possibly banning corals / fish and more

I live in Ontario so I'm not sure if this realistically has a chance of passing. Anyone live in Winnipeg that can explain why this is such a priority or shed any other insight? Should other places be concerned that similar bills could pass in other cities or provinces?

There goes our entire hobby.
