Any Lawyers...
I woke up to a collections company calling yesterday on behalf of ICBC. When I moved from BC to SK back in 1999 I must have closed the bank account that my truck insurance came out of monthly. Because of this I owe almost $500 plus interest. Now the bill is over $1300, I find it hard to believe that they would take five years to finally hand my account over to a collection agency. I called ICBC and they were not interested in talking to me while being very rhude. Anyone know if its worth getting Legal advice? The collection agent has lowered the price twice as I told them I do not have the funds at this time. She has threatened to give me bad credit and garnish my wages trying to scare me into paying. I would have no problem paying with some interest but five years of interest is $800. Need some advice.

offer to pay them the original 500 only as full and final, but wait until near the end of the month. If they say no, send them checks for $25/mo for 6 months, then offer again. A lawyer will charge you a minimum $1000 to deal with it, so not in your best interest to go that route.
