What to put under your tank?
What do you guys put under your tank to help the foundation and your floor?
I have a 210 coming and want to have the proper foundation for it. |
I put a floor jack in my basement right in the middle of my 90 gallon tank.
My stair case restricted the floor joists from extending wall to wall and I felt I needed to add a little more support. My floor was out of level in my living room so I protected my hard wood floor with a layer of vinyl shelf paper and then poured a thin layer of self leveling concrete on top of the vinyl on the wood floor. I created a dam using 1x2s with tiny nails into the hard wood floor. I removed the wood once the concrete was dry. I painted the concrete the same colour (if black is a colour) as my cabinet so you do not even see it. |
I have a large commercial grade rubber mat (that you would find in a gym) and this has been good at protecting my laminate flooring.

Ya that’s exactly what I’m thinking.
It’s going on my basement floor which should be great for my foundation. But it’s on carpet and I want to use a heavy duty mat for this. Where can I get something like those mats? |

Now I wish I waxed or sealed my wood floor first. I didn't think of water stuck under mat. Dampness and salt creep Sent from my SM-G935W8 using Tapatalk |
Typically I use wooden frames but I have smaller tanks. Under the glass though I always cut some styrofoam thick enough to keep the plastic frame off the wood so the tank bottom actually sits on the styrofoam and the plastic frame is just off the wood.

Thanks guys
Think I found a 4x6 and 3/8 thick rubber mat at fitness depot I may go pick up. |
Got one from Flaman fitness in Edmonton, 50 bucks and it is perfect
