Mushroom question

I have been doing some heavy house renovations the last two weeks and have not spent much time with the tank. I have noticed that some of my mushrooms seem to have dissolved. I have never saw this before. The only new addition is a sea hare. Any thoughts?

Are they close enough to be "touched" by the fighting tentacles of another coral, like a bubble or brain? This just happened to me.

Accually I just had what I think was a mushroom/hammer fight. The mushroom won. I've never heard of mushrooms being able to defend via stinging so I don't know what happened. My hammer stopped expanding so I moved it. I guess it's mushroom thinning time.

But I digress; about the disolved mushrooms. During your house renovations, any chance some sanding dust, or fumes of any type might have gotten into your tank water. That could be a cause. Also, check your water perameters. You stated you haven't had time for your tank. Any chance of ammonia, nitrite or nitrate build up??
