New Marine Aquarium on the Sunshine Coast
Hey everyone,
It's been a while since I've been on here and since I've had a reef tank going. I am volunteering to help set up this new aquarium that is starting up in the Gibsons Public Market. It's an interesting project, intending to display the local marine life. It will be a closed system, all tanks connected. HUGE 7 foot skimmer, 2 huge UV filters, and more. I will add pics soon. This is the hospital tank the coordinator decided to buy (He has no idea about aquariums). It's a 90 gallon seafood display tank all in one with chiller, and UV filter. My question is what would be the best way to cycle this tank? Straight Ammonia cycle? They are hoping to use it as a display in 3 weeks from now.... I am doubtful.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...de0d3916e9.jpg Sent from my SM-G920W8 using Tapatalk |
I was just in Gibson's Publix market last weekend and I saw the signs for the new aquarium that was coming soon.
That's pretty cool that you're involved. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk |
A 3 week cycle is possible but you need seeded rock with half new half old saltwater, cycle should be minimal if you have those. If you are using substrate instead of bare bottom then there may be a diatoms and even hair algae phase on the sand.
Good luck on the time line. |
Thanks for the advice Tang daddy! They eneded up using Nutrafin Cycle, supposed to cycle your tank in 3 to 5 days, we will see how that works.
Here's a few more pictures of the setup https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...abbf152a22.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...afd1738f7e.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...7282c212d9.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...7916a40ad0.jpg |
