2 day old midas blenny jumper
My 2 day old midas blenny decided to laminate surf this evening.
Somehow he got behind the cabinet too, thank god I left it 2-3 inches from the wall and was able to squeeze the net in and scoop him up before he flopped under it and was 100% dead. I managed to get him back in the tank in about a minute or so? but he sank to the bottom very close to his hiding spot with dust all over his face. My fire shrimp came over immediately to assess and he snapped awake and into the hiding spot. Seems to be hiding out, can see a bit of breathing. Turned the lights out to reduce stress. No tank net... idiot! I'm getting the stuff for one ASAP, what can I cover it with in the meantime to prevent this? Any household temp uses? Saran wrap with a ton of holes? |
Cover it with anything really, the tank can survive a day with no light from the top. Pick up some black bridal tulle from a fabric shop and a window kit from home depot / rona, etc.

ya i found some folders that were long enough and perched them on top until I can make the top tomorrow. fingers crossed he turns out ok!

Heck, just use some packing tape long the ledge to essentially increase the wall height by another 2 inches until you can DIY a screen

Little dude survived and is doing well!!! Stoked!

Somebody call 911, we got a jumper!

Ha wow!! Good thing you're around to save his life! I guess Darwin didn't tell him about aquariums.

Atleast you have learned your lesson, you better choose a fabric for the meantime but immediately purchase the right cover so that it won't happen again.

happy to report the goof blenny jumped again when i moved the mag float and hit the net, stayed in the tank !
