While I'm At It, Some Zoo Pics

Pics taken under two 95W 10,000K URI tubes and two 95W actinics:

Tried to use only actinic lighting for some of the pics and they turned out all blue and were unuseable.

WOW :shocked!:

I like that second one from the bottom. You're donating that to starving Journalism students right?

Thanks for the kudos, Brad and Murray

Albert, through an unintended trick of photography, the zoo's skirt in the second last pic is really green. Sorry to get you all excited over nothing.

Darryl,

The tank has only recently been set up. Have no frags to sell/trade yet.

Hi Bev, the 5th picture looks like the zoanthids I traded you a while back. Do you still have those? How are they doing?

trilinearmipmap 12-10-2004 04:36 PM

Nice looking zoanthids.

I got some zoos a couple of months ago and they are just not taking off. No new zoos have been growing so far. My water conditions are all optimal. The rest of the tank (LPS, softies) are fine except for mushrooms which are doing poorly as well, likely due to low nutrient levels.

I am wondering if I should move the zoanthids up higher to the light, I never thought zoanthids were very light demanding. Or could they be suffering because they want some nitrates in the water to feed on -- nitrates are zero. Or is a lack of target feeding the problem?

Any advice on getting healthy zoos like yours would be appreciated.

How is the flow going over and around them? Strong? Weak? Also, you could try moving them up to higher lighting. Zoanthids usually grow much faster and color up better that way.
