To all you calcium reactor experts
 

I'm having an issue with my ca reactor: Just about every morning when I get up its running dry,co2 just a pumping away cuz I have it hooked up to a controller. There is no output ,and no flow from the tank to the reactor.

I have cleaned all the valves and piping and still it keeps doing it. After I restart it it runs fine for say 8 hours then the flow starts to slow down and stops,which causes the problem of increased pressure and out on the floor go's my ca water

Are you gravity feeding the reactor or using a pump to feed the reactor?

Is it a top down flow type or up flow type?

Any pics?

It is being gravity fed.and it the reactor you built john its a flow down type and as for the pic I dont have a dig camera so I'm out of luck there

Its not going to the floor its feeding back into my aquarium which in turn is overflowing and going on to the floor

Anyway, This is the one that's been around the block and back I assume? :lol:

I have seen another reefer modify this type of design with a hole in the bottom box that was threaded for a 1/4" john guest type valve. This then connected to the recirculation loop to get rid of any trapped air in the bottom box that may accumulate.

You should also shoot for a ph in the reactor of about 6.7 to 7.0. I have found with mine that if I let the ph drop to around 6.5 than bad things start to happen at that point. Co2 accumulates, media turns to mush etc...
