I run 2 - 175w Halides on my 180g tank, and I have Acro's, and they look great.

thanks for the post, are there any corals you think i should advoid though ,do you have any pics of your tank ?. :)

Sorry I don't have a camera, so no pictures. But I first started with montipora's and have worked my way up to the acro's. I would suggest buying frags, or cultured corals. They fare way better then wild, large colonies. I bought my first acro's from Ocean Aquatics, less then a year ago, and they have more then doubled in size. But of course water conditions also play a big role in your corals surviving and growing.

thats going to be my other problem i dont want to but might have to thin out my fish which include a snowflake, birdmouth, naso and a lion no3 is less than 10ppm,but i havent had a chance to do a water change in a few weeks, any thoughts on this ?

you'll have to do some looking to see if your fish are compatable with the corals you want to keep. As far as you water, you'll have to try and see what happens. What is your calcium and Alkalinity at?

DEAD_BY_DAWN 11-11-2004 05:25 AM

calcium at 400ppm and alk at 11dkh the fish i have wont bother the corals but i'm concerned about them overloaing the system there sm/med in size right now,for filters i have four hagen 802s ,prizm pro fluidized sand filter not sure the brand but it stands 22" tall, 80lbs or so of live rock i want to reach about 120lbs+ when i can afford it and finally 2-3" pf ls not sure how many pounds( the rock is light and already fills up a large section of the tank) well i guess i'm asking is ok if i keep going in this direction or stick with a fowl tank ?

Your system sounds good to me. One change you might want to look into, is getting rid of the fludized filter, it may be contributing to your nitrate problem.
