Kittens and sumps

After almost 20 years of being able to say "no" to my wife, I relented and agreed to get a kitten. OF COURSE one of her favourite places is the sump area of my aquarium. Specifically right beside the protein skimmer. I think the sound it makes reminds her of purring, which she finds comforting.

I normally wouldn't care. But she's moved my Smart ATO a couple of times and when I get to the point that I'm dosing chemicals I don't want to risk harming her.

I thought about getting a baby gate and sticking it behind the stand but its close to the wall and I'm not sure how I would secure it.

Anyone have any experiences to share?

Get a dog = kitten stays under bed.

Could you not attach some wood to either end of the stand to close the gap between the wall and the stand?

That's a really good idea! Never thought of that. As long as it's as tall as the tank I think it would be future proof. Thanks Dendromad.
