Awsome pics Rich! How long have your watchmen been together? Did you get them as a pair? Do you have a shrimp with them?

I have a watchman, but haven't been able to pair it up. But it is with a tiger pistol shrimp though..

Is it possible to rear watchman fry?

Yeah your post soap is pretty darn funny :mrgreen:
My watchmens have been shacked up about 4 1/2 years now, and this is the third time that "I'm aware" that they have mated. I had the female about a year prior and then introduced the much smaller male after I decided to trade in the pistol(too much loud clicking), and after about 6 months of territory squables they finally hooked up in the same burrow. I haven't heard of any fry making it past a few weeks for gobies, but I'm no expert on that subject. Maybe Wendel or Tim would have some input to offer on this matter :biggrin:

Is there a distinct difference between the male and female? And what are they?

I can tell the difference between the two fish in two ways: one the larger female is at least a year older than the smaller male, and second my female has a mark her dorsal fin which makes it even easier for me to tell. Also I saw the female giving birth to the clutch so that made my assumption 100% right.

If you have a pair, in most cases the female will become larger and dominate the tank more than the male.

Do you know if anyone has tried rearing the young up on rotifers?

Also, are these guys sequential hermaphrodites (or whatever the term is) like clownfish and anthias or are they born one gender and that's it? Did you get lucky in establishing the pair or did you set out to pair them up?
