Salt, salt, salt.
 

I'd like to ask you all in helping me put together an informational thread of different salt brands, mainly their freshly mixed parameters. I've only used IO myself, so I'm hoping those of you who have used other brands could chime in.

Please be aware that I'm only looking for values in which you have personally tested, upon mixing your new salt water. Please do not provide numbers given off of manufactures web sites or the packaging on the salt.

Cal: 380 - 430 Salifert
Mg: 1155 - 1355 Salifert



Once I can gather enough information, this thread will be edited into an informative listing of salts and their reported mixed values, simply to be used as a guide. Obviously this is not an exact science.

Alk: 9.3-9.8 dKH (Hanna & Salifert - both read very close)
Mg: 1200-1250 ppm (Salifert)

Coralife Marine Salt

Temp 77F
Salinity 1.022 Calibrated vertex refractometer
Cal 450 Red Sea Pro
Alk 8.1 Dkh Red Sea Pro
Mag 1220 Red Sea Pro

This should translate to
1.026
Cal 526
Alk 9.5 dKH
Mag 1427

INSTANT OCEAN REEF CRYSTALS

Salinity: 35ppm Vertex ref
Alk: 11 dkh Red Sea Pro
Cal: 475 ppm Red Sea Pro
Mg: 1440 ppm Red Sea Pro
K: 390 ppm Salifert

These at 35 ppt, 1.026 calibrated refractometer. Ca measured with Salifert, alk with Hanna and Salifert, and Mg Red Sea Pro and Salifert.

Aquaforest Probiotic

Ca 400-415 ppm
Alk 7.2-8.0 dKH
Mg 1300-1350 ppm

Omega Sea Premium Reef Salt

Ca 430-400 ppm
Alk 8.5-9.5 dKH
Mg 1400-1450 ppm

Weird, my last bucket tested as follows:
Salinity: 35 ppm
Cal: 465 ppm
Alk: 11.2 dKH
Mg: 1395 ppm

All with Salifert
