Food for a Sailfin tang

Whats a good food to feed my sailfin tang. He seems to love Mysis shrimp but what kinda veggie stuff?

Nori ( ... wrapped around a piece of PVC.)

I wish we had a picture of this in the newbie section... something to do later.

Wrap it real good with the elastic, so only tiny bits can be torn off at once, otherwise you'll have strips and chunks of it floating around the tank - not so good.

I'll post a pic of my setup when I get home from the office ;)

maybe someone could sticky it then!

Nori? where can i purchase it?

LostMind 09-28-2004 12:08 AM

Just about everywhere it seems now...

Saveon, safeway and even IGA carry nori now. It's in the asian aisle with the sushi stuff. Make sure you buy plain nori, not the salted or seasoned stuff. It's usually like $0.99 per 100 sheets.

I am too lazy to resize them atm. So they are HUGE. Sorry. And, this is not my invention, I read about it on the boards somewhere....

HTH

well i made the same kinda feeder as u put it in the tank and when i woke up all the nori was gone and now there is chunks all over my tank. :( think my shrimp ripped it apart all night.

Quinn 09-30-2004 04:51 AM

Likely. The tang may take some time to realize that it can eat the nori. Perhaps provide smaller portions until then.

LostMind 09-30-2004 05:01 AM

Yah, the cleaner shrimp will get it.

But, my cleaner eats everything he pulls off. Strange.

I also try to put the nori in the tank in the morning and I take out any leftovers (usually none or very little) before I head to bed...
