well after three months the 90g doing well,othere than a slight case of ick
i would like to start adding a few inverts that interest me ,i already have a nice sand star,but a cucumber and a queen conch are in the plans but i dont want them starving to death,there is about 100lbs of ls and 65ish pounds of lr,should i let the tank mature for another few months before adding any other inverts ?.thanks john

way to much sand load for a 90 gal tank. a sand star will devestate the sand bed of life in no time, and the queen conch and cucumber will be competing for food wich there will not be enuf of unless you have a huge algae problem.

for a 90 gal tank with rock I would recomend one fighting conch and thats it. a queen conch needs aprox 3x the tank size you have for it to grow to full potential, a fighting conch alone needs 2 sq^ft of open sand bed which is probably all your going to have with your rock in. also a queen conch will climb the rocks and with there size will be quite destructive. you could probably get away with a small cucumber and a fighting conch.

Thanks for the advice i will hold off getting any of the species that you listed,because i dont really have any algae in the tank just a little on the glass,should i remove the sandstar then?,i wass looking for a creature to stir the sand that wont be eaten by my eel do you have any ideas on what would be a good choice ..thanks john
theres about 2-3" i was just guessing it was 100lbs atleast it felt that heavy carrying it home,is this to much sand then ?

I think a fighting conch would be a good choice. as for removign the star I am not sure, it will eat the bugs and worms that populate the sand and the conch will just eat the algae so they should be fine togeather. the fighting conch will do a good job at stiring the sand with out eating the bugs though.

fighting conch, lotsa cerith and nassarius snails and you'd have a well mixed sandbed imo :)

I had a sand star and I never saw it anyways, so I dont consider it a good tank critter...

good ones are getting hard to find now as even Dr. Ron is now saying that it is not possable to support the population of required "bugs" that are needed to make one function properly in captivity. if you read around you will also see the trend is that after about 1 year they start to create more problems than they solve. I am one that was having problems that cleared up for the most part when I reduced my sand depth from 6" to 1/2 of an inch.
