Lighting

Hey,

Need a little help deciding what kind of light and where to buy a light.
I am looking at HQI halides either 10k or 14k and i'm thinking 150w over 250w?
Are there any good suggestions for where to get this kind of lighting in canada for a decent price? I like the aqualights from aqua medic as well.

Thanks for the info.. help

we need the specifics of the tank and what you feel will be your ultamat goal as in what you are going to have in the tank.

how tall is the tank? now that you have said you want to keep clams I will recommend MH lighting but the high of your tank will determine how big of a bulb you need to go.

making an assumption of an 18" hight I would recommend one 250 watt MH. your choice of weather you go with a pulse start or a HQI type ballast (I lean toward the HQI ballasts myself)

I'd go 250. Then you'll only have to upgrade to 400 not 150-250 400.

I had 150 for some time always wishing I had 250, pretty happy now with my 250 DE

Dave

go 250 HQI then you never have to upgrade, but seriously if you have to up grade from a normal 250 on a 18" tall tank to anything something is wrong.
