Lanthanum chloride and gfo
I had a po4 spike a couple weeks ago which was caused from a bag of hydroton I put in sump when it was first setup and I forgot about it.. I have since taken out and used foz down to control phosphates.. I also changed my gfo.
Question is. Will the lanthanum chloride bond to gfo if the gfo is holding phosphates rendering the gfo useless? Currently the po4 level is 0.04 and will rise to 0.06 after 24hrs |
0.04 and 0.06 are both fine levels and borderline getting to low
|
I realize that both are perfectly fine levels.. I run a sps tank so I really try to keep at 0.04.
Just wondering about the effect lanthanum chloride has on gfo |

Some hydroxide is bound, but very small amounts compared to phosphate and carbonate. |
Thanks. Funny thing I did notice a alk drop when I was bringing phosphates down.
I tested today and was 0.05 without a dose in 24hrs so think all is well |
