Sand movement
I am looking for options for moving my sand around as much as I can. I have about 1.5- 2 inches of sand on the bottom and I want something that moves even the deep parts of it.
I have a goby and pistol shrimp pair on the right side of the tank and I like how they are always turning the sand. I recently got a sand urchin, I have nasarrus snails and the goby and shrimp pair. What are my best options for getting deep sand movement without getting a sand sifting goby.. I have a 50 gallon reef tank |
Bristle star?

Black Knobby Sea cucumbers
I have two black knobby sea cucumbers in the gravel of my 100 gal tank. I never see them but the sand always looks 'healthy'. One time my Maxi Jet power head fell onto the sand and churned up the whole right side of my tank right down to the glass bottom. All I had to do was put the sand back, remove the one dead sea cumber and start up the power head again (reattached to the glass). All was well. I replaced the dead sea cucumber with another live one. All is still doing well.

I have 5 conch that I always see playing in the sand always churning it up I also have 3 Tiger tail cucumbers that also push my sand and gravel around

If you don't mind your sand being moved into large piles and your rocks being completely undermined an Engineer Goby will move an incredible amount. Do be aware that anything sitting on the sand bed will likely be buried on occasion.
