Unboxing my order
 

Here are some pics of my order as I unboxed it and of the frags acclimating in a container. I couldn't believe that the SPS maintained a lot of their color and the polyps of all corals were extended during acclimation.

Great packaging, prices, selection, service and arrive alive guarantee. Such a pleasant experience compared to my previous experience buying frags privately and getting no arrive alive guarantee on DOA. Can't wait to order more. I'm already making a list. off the topic but what brand of carbon is in pic 2? ive been looking for extruded carbon for a while and i think you have it.:biggrin:

Whats the reason for adding carbon to the shipping bags?

I think it helps keep the water clean and clear probably the same way as running carbon in a reef tank.

Adding carbon to shipping bags is especially important because with such a small amount of water, it can foul pretty quickly and therefore harm the coral/fish so you want to keep it as clean as possible.

I was asking because I was thinking it wouldn't be effective. Carbon needs flow to be effective. Would the small amount of water still benefit from carbon just sitting there, potentially absorbing contaminants?

I'm not doubting it, just curious to the facts. I live 8 hours from the closest LFS and hobbiests and take bags full of corals monthly with me. If there is a way to improve the shipping process, I want to know about it lol
