I would leave it on. Agressive skimmin g will help the cycle and give more of a chance that stuff will survive if you used raw rock..

Leave it on and let it do it's thing.
There is no reason I can see to not have it running.

Hello,

Leave it on for cycling as skimmers need time to break in anyway. And during this heavy load period of time, it allows you to experiment with the settings the skimmer.

I agree, skimming while cycling a new tank won't be of any harm and like Titus said, it will give you time to play with the skimmer. ;)
