Reducing overflow box openings?
My overflow box has typical eggcrate trim. One of my clowns always ends up in the box.
Has anyone found a good way to reduce the openings without restricting the flow too much? I was thinking on cutting pieces of eggcrate and putting them in diagonally and cut them in two. But I worry my water level will rise. Here's my box... http://i653.photobucket.com/albums/u...20934EEF71.jpg |
Ever thought of putting a top on it as well? Do you think the clown is getting through the egg crate, or just over top of it?
I would personally go with a plastic overflow box cover that extends upwords into standard overflow teeth. |
fish I've taken out of the overflow way to big to fit through the crating, so I'm voting also likely yours went over the top.

Gutter gaurd mesh from hardware stores is pretty handy for this, I've zip-tied it over eggcrate for overflows many times in the past.

My pair of clowns is smaller... So I always assumed it was just getting through the holes.
Ill try a cover before making the holes smaller. You never know. Thanks all. |
