sps turning green. help

So i have noticed that most of my spa corals are going to the green side of color.
Any thoughts?

Ca 430
Alk 8.5
Nitrates 10
PH 8.2
Phosphate .03
Mag 1250

I have led light its a Chinese deal.
It would appear that the blue spa has the most noticeable change to green.

What LED Light from China do you have? Is it full spectrum? How do you get your water? Nitrates could be a little lower.

Shifts to green colour can becaused by a number of things, you're lighting being one of them. If you are coming up empty handed there, look into the iron concentration in your water (there might be something rusting in the tank). Increased iron levels cause green shifts in coloration, particularly for SPS.

Some of mine turn green when the nutrients start to rise

Not sure if they are full spectrum. It says they are Cree LEDs on the unit but.... The water is ro di and tds meter says 0 or 1
I will get an iron test and check that.
What are your thoughts about adding a couple t5 ho bulbs and would you. Go actinic and white or both actinic?

How long have you had these corals under this light? What colour are these corals?

gregzz4 02-05-2014 01:44 AM

Could be Iron content in your water ... :noidea:

Some of my corals started to shade towards the greener side after I switched to a supposed HiCap GFO which is brown, rather than the BRS HiCap stuff which is black

Your light is fine and as long as your getting enough light to them you wont have issues. Lots of beautiful sps tanks dont run full spectrum. I would try to lower those nitrates. My blues turn green when I let my nitrates get that high so i like to keep them at around 2. A lot of people run sps tanks with 10 nitrate just fine but every tank is different. Unless you added something that would add iron to your tank, I wouldnt bother testing for it.

Alk, Mag is a bit to low and nitrates are to high.
