tank swap

hello i have a running 45 gal tank and have set up at 90 gal that im moving everything into. i have moved half the rocks from the 45 to the 90 and bought the rest used from a tank shut down. and new live sand. i have diatoms all over the sand. the rocks have coriline algae on them already.

my question is im not getting any readings on the tests. the diatoms are releasing little bubbles (i know its normal). its been running 2 weeks come friday and every one told me that should be fine but the reading bother me.

i have a lone crab in the tank as of last night who is doing fine.

any tips

derrick

What tests are you running and what do you mean by no readings? Like no Nitrite and Ammonia? Whats your nitrates at?

What did you use to start your cycle? Anything? It doesnt sound like you have cycled yet, nitrate should be reading something, how often are testing and have you seen nitrite and ammonia spike?

i used all the live rock from my 45 gal plus some and put a crab into the tank

if your using all cured rock and was quick in the move you may not see much of a cycle or a cycle at all.

using the old sand bed may cause a small spike but not always.

^^^This^^^
You might be ok, you should be reading some nitrate though. I would give it a couple more days and see what happens.

I talked to a guy at big als and they said the same that I would not get much for a cycle I added 2 fish and will be testing it over the next few days
