WP40 VS MP40

I'm planning to switch out my 2 koralia 1500 for a new pump because I have a lot of dead spot and wanna get that natural wave sway. Does anyone here have experience with both of the WP40 and the MP40 powerheads? I've heard that the WP40 give better water movement and a lot quieter than the MP40. Not to mention that it's like 5x cheaper so I'm kinda leaning more on the WP40. http://www.fish-street.com/jebao_wp-...00l_wave_maker has them for 75$ and replacement parts for pretty much next to nothing. It seems they have the new 12 mode international version and reefsupplycanada.ca only has the china 6 mode version. Will 1 Wp40 be enough for a 75g 4' tank? Planning to get the variable power supply as well.

1 WP40 would be enough and you might even have to turn it down a little on the speed, I've got 2 in my 180g tank right now and you can see the bits of sand swirling in circles on the bottom

The Vortechs different modes are really cool and I'm pretty sure the Jebaos don't have the same features. I have 4 MP40s and an MP10, they are all noisy. I've had a few that needed to be replaced. As much as I like them I will be replacing them with the Jeabos as they wear out or break down due to all Ecotech products stupidly overpriced. A freind just purchased a WP40 for his 72G and he says it kicks ass. So yes one will be good for you. But 2 of the WP25s would be better.

What benefits would 2 WP25 do instead of 1 WP40? Is it better directed flow? I'm planning to upgrade to a 120g 5' tank once I get a few more paychecks from my new job. Went with 75g for my first tank mainly cuz I knew absolutely nth of saltwater tanks n was a broke student=P. now I wanna get those awesome sailfin or maybe hippo tangs!!

Well than get 2 WP40s
I'm not sure if they sync or antisync together like the Vortechs. More flow and different random flow patterns are easier to accomplish with 2 units.

They can be, although I haven't done it yet, but easiest way is to get the reef angel cables for controlling the WP wavemakers with reef angel and patch those cords into the 0-10v cord for the apex. There is a built in resistor I think it is in the reef angel cable to turn the 0-10v signal to 0-5v which is what the WP requires to be controlled.

I have cables here, just haven't had time to do the modification myself yet =)

True. it is a 0-5v.
I have 4 wp25's wired into my profilux.
And yes, they do kick ass.

How much do the controllers cost and what exactly do they do?

Jason I have two WP 25 on my 120 and I have to keep them dialed down to almost the lowest settings. Personally I would do two 25 rather then one 40.
