Hello,

I think your parameters are great. Though personally I may up the skimming to eliminate all traces of NO3 completely. A bit won't hurt either. But awesome to hear you using RO water. What filtration kit you use?

a cheap and simple one just the prizm skimmer and a aquaclear 200 with foam that i either wash or replace every 2 days, the nitrates dont seem to be bothering the corals at this time and there is only a very small amount of diatoms on one part of the sand bed ,and really no other micro except the green that forms on the glass,i would like to bring the nitrates down to 0 but im not sure if this is possible due to me feeding the fish twice per day,i cant turn the skimmer up to full due to it allowing to many bubbles in the tamk which i dont mind but the salt crust that quickly forms is a pain in the butt.

Hello,

I was actually curious what RO filtration unit you are using. Do you monitor any silicate, phosphate, or RO TDS? Considering your reef is already 6 months old, you are using RO, and running the Prism on a relatively small volume of water, I don't understand why you are getting diatom and stuff. How long have you had your Prism for?

a friend gives me the ro water from his system ,ive no idea what model he is useing though but next time i see him i will ask,i think the diatoms might be useing the silicate from a few pinches of silica sand that was attached to a piece of lr but thats only a guess,i havent tested for it,the prizm has been up and running from the start of the tank,i started useing ro water two months ago i dont know if there is still silicate left over i used keny posphate sponge for a short time a few months ago to.
