Reusing algae covered rock
Good Day:
I removed an algae covered rock and it is soaking in fresh water outside for about two weeks. When I pulled the rock out I used a electric power washer but the red algae didn't come off easily. Before I "cook" the rock what would you recommend to remove the algae from the rock? Thanks, Michael https://dl.dropbox.com/s/0lbyzf8weuf6sal/P1010188.jpg |
ive used peroxide on algae rocks and it works wonders, just the 3% stuff you get from the store, i used a mix of tank water and peroxide and let a rock with zoas on it soak in it for like 3 min, took like 2 days and all the algea was gone and all the zoa were fine and opened,
i would use a mix of peroxide and water and dip and let the rocks sit in there it will kill any living things and end the algae problem |
+1 to the above, H2O2 works great at removing algae.

Hi:
The rock is already dead. I guess I can use hydrogen peroxide to help remove the algae before I cook the rock. Thanks, Michael |
Soak the rocks in a bucket of water with a few cups of bleach , it wont fully dissolve but it will turn transparent and be DEAD for sure .
