I love the version 1's I have had them now since the end of march and I could no be happier! The colours off my corals are amazing and noticeable growth when compared to the old HOT5 lighting I was running.

Highly recommend these units for anyone wanting to go with LED's but not willing to break the bank.

Thank you very much for the pictures. They seem very bright at 30%, I am rather surprised.

Magma 07-27-2013 08:15 PM

I had them on 50% but I found that they actually bleach out SPS corals really easy and some of my zoas would not open at all

nrosdal 07-27-2013 10:13 PM

Here is a shot of my tank with 2 v1 d120s. I have slowly worked my way to run at around 70% on each chanel. Couldn't get over 50% without bleaching but over time it has gone quite well and colors are great.

nrosdal 07-27-2013 11:48 PM

Haha, yeah. It seems to want to encrust but not grow up.

H2o2 07-28-2013 12:15 AM

It cant grow up if it is a SHORTCAKE :-)

nrosdal 08-13-2013 12:38 AM

Haha, it seems that we have no shortage of comedians on the forums .

In the past 2 weeks i cranked the lights to 100% and the little shortcake has finally decided to reach for the sky.

New lights are arriving tomorrow. Can't wait to see how they look in person. Been 2 weeks since last pics and i will post new ones tomorrow when i get new lights up to show some growth from the v1 and the colors of the V2.

Since the new ones are here(tomorrow) and we have 6 of the V1 units left. The remaining units will be discounted down to $160/unit until they are gone.

I'm still playing round with intensity of my it2080. I've grown to really like the unit. Right now I have 15% more white at all times except an hour at dawn and one at dusk. Running the unit at maximum 55% for 6 hours and then the dawn/dusk for a total photo period of 12 hours. Been like that for over a week and my lps are loving it along with some of my sps. It appears my zoas would live at 100% or under a candle light :)

Definitely takes some tinkering to find the right balance but It gives me an excuse to get my hands wet which I'm all for :)

Are we going to see 12 AI SOLs for sale soon?
Or do you just add that on to the existing lighting?

I don't need anymore intensity trust me. All my LPS needs to put on sun tan lotion.

KevinK 08-13-2013 03:02 PM

what brand of LED's are in this?

nrosdal 08-14-2013 03:49 AM

They are made with 3 watt Bridgelux LEDs

nrosdal 08-14-2013 04:12 AM

Got new lights today and put them up. Very impressed with new model and would say due to the addition of lenses and a couple more white LEDs they are about 30-40% brighter.

Here are a few pics (they are hung a little crooked and yes, my glass is dirty). But there is a distinct difference in brightness in tank). I also need to make new brackets for the lights and move them a bit closer together since they spaced the leds out more and have a thinner outside trim and with the way i have it rigged rght now they are not evenly spaced.
