for those of you with fuzzy pets...
And not fish with fungus, I'm talking cats and dogs. Have any of you had a flea problem in your house? We have treated our cats but the fleas in the house are getting intolerable. How do we treat with a fish tank present? Any suggestions? I'm sad to say this one got away from me with being busy with the new baby and now I'm at a loss as what to do. We're using advantage on the cats and have hardwood floors. Ive tried salt but it didnt really do much and am now looking towards harsher chemical products to get the job done.

With 4 dogs, I've never seen a flea. Sorry, not much help :)

Lucky you. Our "outdoor" cat gets them from his posse every april/may. We gave them flea dope in april but missed may and didnt recognise the problem until mid june now we are paying for it :(

6 Huskies and 1 Great Dane that have never had a flea in there life so far, not sure what the wife does or the vet but it works. I would say you will have to wrap the tank in plastic to seal it off and them spray the whole house with some thing similar to what is used for bed bugs.

Eric from TGVAS is now a pest technician. He is doing two of my buildings. You could send him a PM there?

My dog has picked them up when at my parents. We usually just give him a flea bath and throw a flea collar on him, they disappear fairly fast. Never had a bad case of it though so not much help! Maybe talk to your vet and see what advice they can offer!

Diatomaceous Earth seems to be the go to thing my pest control company uses. If you decide to go this route I have a huge bag of the stuff. I use it in my vortex filter. I bought it at a pool supply store. |
Advantage
We give our Mutt advantage when It gets fleas. Seems to work...

I just throw them all in the river, seems to work

We give our dog Revolution you get it at the vets and put it on every 4 months never seen a flea or other pests.

There are powders that are considered pet friendly including fish tanks and sprays as well but are harder to come by
I would talk to a professional bug killer they often will give you advice on killing the lil critters and what products to use. |
Chritsty, have a look at this article
There's also some info on Diatomaceous Earth that was offered to you I'd go with using soap dishes and lights to start with as it's safest for your finned and furry pets |
