Dinoflagellate VS Fauna Marin Ultra Algea X

My Fauna Marin Ultra Algea X has arrived. It's time for battle. If all goes as planned, the Dino's are going down.

It even says on the front label .... "Solution against dinoflagellate".

Hopefully what I have actually IS Dinoflagellate.

how long did that take to grow that much?

did it just appear over a week or 2? or has it been accumulating over months?

It appeared then exploded. I have been manually removing it for about a month. It started about 6 weeks ago and I thought it was cycle from the reset up of the tank.

I was treating for Cyano and not dinoflagellate.

Wish you luck, thems Dino's are scrrryy creatures.

MarkoD 07-04-2013 04:15 AM

i saw a guy on the facebook group selling bunch of rock for less than a dollar a pound, maybe it would be easier to just replace the rock?

paddyob 07-04-2013 04:53 AM

Dose number one made. 15ml (5ml/26g).

I have 100G - displacement = about 80 gallons. 26x3=78g.

Close enough I hope.

Rowaphos and ROX carbon reactors off.

Skimmer on as per instructions. Regular light schedule. As per instructions.

I did reduce the intensity of my LEDs a tad.

Here goes nothing... or hopefully the Dinos. :twised:

I am curious to see if the stuff works aswell.

Let me get this straight you were treating for cyano and then the Dino showed up after? The pics are kinda dark but its definately noticeable that you have brown slime or stuff... Where did you order the product from and how much was it?

Thought it was Cyano.

Ordered from Canada Corals. After shipping it was about $38.

Sorry. Pics are from my phone.

Thanks for the reply, I hope this stuff treats the Dino's, never seen a case that bad.

Instructions on their website say max 6hrs full light, longer okay with blue lights. FWIW I left all lighting off the first two days to help win the battle.

Yup. Thats longer than my own set timers.

I reduced my LEDs to 25%

Ife

Still dosing every two days.

The texture of the Dino's has changed drastically and appears to be receding.

As my wife said "it's not waving in the current anymore".

So must be improving.

It may be a repeated treatment due to my huge outbreak.

Myka 07-19-2013 05:32 AM

Any updates?

Problem is not gone, but improving.

The instructions state a second round may be necessary in extreme situations. I have about 3 treatments left until the max 21 days before breaking off.

It's not growing. It's not slimy. I've been removing it manually every couple days and expect it to get better.

Ho hum.

paddyob 07-29-2013 02:47 AM

Well unfortunately my holiday had to interrupt the treatment.

It came a week and a half late delaying the start.

Five days camping and I'm back to square one.

I'm about to throw a rock through my display and stop giving a fook.

paddyob 07-30-2013 06:13 PM

Going

Going to make a second run at it.

Differently.

Removing all rocks on the surface. Taking to a smaller tank running in my basement. A 38g that's cycling for my banggais.

I'll try the cycle there in complete darkness until the Dino's are gone. Scrubbing them before starting.

Then treat the 70 display as well and have a reduced amount of dinos to compete against.

Think this makes sence?

The product works. But I think My tank is a special case. Needs to go a little longer.

I take your sand out and go barebottom for a couple months.
