Canada Corals is moving to Toronto!

We are quickly outgrowing our current space and decided to take the plunge by moving to Toronto.

Our new warehouse/facility is located @ Dixie and Hwy 401.

We are thinking about making a build thread for our shop. Stay tuned!

Congrats - would love to watch the build. You should move to Calgary!

Interesting.

To be honest, we are not moving to Toronto for the locals... although we will be open to the public. We want to be right next to the airport.

We are mostly a shipping facility. We ship Canada wide so the local sales are not much of a concern. It can't be any worse than the Ottawa market.

Again, we are not going to compete with them.

We are concentrating on the online market.

Canada is much bigger than Toronto. :)

If your moving to the GTA you could move to a much better area such as lakeshore that has a night life. Hurontario and lakeshore is a really nice area. I remember in 2007 when the scene was starved for coral Jay and Jensen from Reef Raft made 25,000$ on there weekend opening but then the hobby got flooded and everybody stoped bringing in huge shipments. I wish I still lived in Mississauga

Nice just one more place to stop on Toronto trips :)

What is the advantage? You can ship corals overnight through out Canada using a courier like Fed Ex or UPS? Or is the more more to be close to the airport for importing coral?

The main reason for the move was to be close to our suppliers. That way we can replenish our inventory quick and have many more corals/fish online to offer.

We want to start shipping via WestJet whenever possible so being close to the airport is a priority.

Who are your suppliers besides reef wholesale?

RW is currently our main supplier for livestock. We have other suppliers for drygoods.

A word to the wise...there are a number of fraggers (small and large) in that area...if you plan on jumping on shipments from LFS like RR, NAFB, SUM etc. your in for some serious competition. (but I am sure you know this)

The market is so saturated in the GTA right now, the supply out weighs the demand. I know you are a Canada wide company, but trying to lock in suppliers from the GTA is not going to be cheap or easy ...

Being at the London Frags swap will be a great start for you guys...you will hopefully get an idea of what I am talking about

Yep. We are well aware of the heavy competition in the area.

Again, it makes no difference to us. If we don't sell to anyone local, that's fine... our main concern is the Canadian market.

We officially moved on Thursday so its a done deal.

We are building new systems from scratch. Still haven't nailed down a glass company yet.

It's going to take a few months before everything is complete. This will be a pretty large build.

Jordon 04-08-2013 07:25 PM

Congrats on the move!

Will you guys be too busy, or are there any new shipments to be expected?...

xenon 04-08-2013 08:24 PM

Thanks!

We are currently swamped with the build and wont be ordering in any more corals until our new systems are ready.

It's going to take quite a few months.

Welcome to the GTA, I'm excited to see what nice new things you bring to the market. Had a look at your site and glad to see I can schedule a visit

WindowMaker 04-11-2013 01:55 AM

So close now! Ill have to check it out soon.

Bugger 05-17-2013 03:33 PM

Can you update us on what is happening please

xenon 05-19-2013 09:40 PM

Our corals have recovered nicely from the move and will be ready to ship very soon.

We are expecting our glass on Tuesday so we can finally build our new LPS and LPS systems.

I will try and keep this thread updated.
